Jack Wheeler will be taking full charge of the first team, allowing Darren Hare to oversee the women’s team alongside his other duties as Head of Gillingham FC’s Academy and part of the club’s community trust senior management.
Hare told the club’s website: “I’ve really enjoyed working with Gillingham Ladies from the moment I went to watch them play against Coventry Ladies two seasons ago.
“I’ve been impressed with their skill, application and determination, especially this season when we’re hoping to bounce back from a disappointing relegation.”
“Jack is a great, young coach who has got the girls into good shape, it’s been a good start to the season and I’ve no doubt it will continue to go from strength to strength under his management.
“We’ve got great staff at the club and with Jack and Pauline Cope coaching the girls, they’ll be learning and developing all the time.
“I’ll be continuing to support the development of the women’s set up at the football club which is becoming more and more impressive. I look forward to seeing the girls put on some more good showcases of the women’s game in Kent.”
