Gorman doesn't want his side to crack over Easter period - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

Thursday 29th March 2007
Paul Gorman is expecting another hard fought game when he takes his side to Lordswood on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Erith & Belvedere joint-boss saw his side secure a flattering 3-1 win at second-from-bottom side Tunbridge Wells last night to leap frog over Deal Town into seventh place in the Kent League table.

A sunning right-footed volley from Adrian Deane gave the Deres the lead, scoring his tenth, and best, goal of the season before Joe Fuller levelled for the Wells.

Steve White slotted home his 23rd goal of the season on the hour and substitute Micky Collins grabbed a third deep into injury time.

And the Doncaster born Gorman is anticipating another tough game, this time at North Dane Way on Saturday against a Lordswood side that’s in the bottom five and suffered a 3-2 defeat at Culverden Stadium on Saturday.

“It’s going to be a battle,” Gorman warned in an EXCLUSIVE interview with www.kentishfootball.co.uk last night.

“You find a lot of the teams at the bottom are going to battle for their games.

“They’re going to be up for it because it’s (against) Erith & Belvedere.

“No game’s easy in this league no matter who you play.  It’s just going to be a battle and you’ve got to face up to it and we’ve got to play the way we normally play.”

The two top-sides, Croydon (Good Friday, 1pm) and Whitstable Town (Easter Saturday, 3pm) visit Park View Road and Gorman will be happy to avoid defeat.

“I’ll be happy if we take at least three points out of them two games,” he said.

“If we take four, or two with 2 draws I’ll be happy as long as we don’t get beat.

“I know it’s going to be hard for the boys.  They’ll be there to battle and I know they’ll give me 150%, which they’ve been giving me since I’ve been here and hopefully Whitstable or Croydon are in for a hard game – that’s all I can say really about that.”

And with Marc Seager’s Whitstable six points clear of the Trams with seven games to, Gorman’s side have a say.

He said: “We can either decide it for people or take it away from them.”
