Hanscombe steps down as Cray's reserve team manager
Sunday 15th November 2009
MARK HANSCOMBE has today decided to step down as the reserve team manager of Cray Wanderers after five years in charge, writes Stephen McCartney.
The role of reserve team manager can be a frustrating one, as players are often called up for first team duties, and this appears to be the reason fro his departure.
“The frustrations of reserve football have finally caught up with me after five years,” Hanscombe told www.kentishfootball.co.uk upon his departure.
“Every time I get myself a team in contention to win something my squad is changed by other priorities.
“I have been offered several first team roles in the past, and hope that with my record of producing players, another club will offer me a chance to prove myself at first team level.”
Hanscombe leaves the Wands sitting in fourth place in the Bulmers Cider Kent League first division, with a record of four wins and two draws from nine league games, but more importantly has produced players for Ian Jenkins’ first team squad in the past couple of years.
Hanscombe added: “Gary Hillman has been a fantastic chairman and I wish him and Cray Wanderers all the success he deserves.”
