We had an excellent season last year and will be looking to build on that, says Herne Bay boss Sam Denly
HERNE BAY manager Sam Denly says he wants to build-on the club’s most successful Ryman League campaign.
The Bay finished in a personal best of ninth-place in their third campaign in the Ryman League Division One South last season and Denly wants to improve on that this time around.
Herne Bay kick-off their new campaign on Saturday with a home Kent derby against Sittingbourne at Winch’s Field.
Denly said: “Really looking forward to getting started this Saturday when we play Sittingbourne at home to start the Ryman League 2015-16 season.
“We had an excellent season last year and will be looking to build on that.
“Everyone from last year’s squad has re-signed and we have added a few in and around that so have kept a stable squad which will help us continue to develop and improve.
“Pre-season has gone well. I have used a lot of players and have a lot of difficult decisions to make which is a good problem to have.
“We have a lot of games coming thick and fast so we will need a big squad and everyone will play their part.”
When asked about the club’s aspirations this season, the Herne Bay boss replied: “A lot of people are talking about play-offs and where we will finish this season, but we are just working hard to maintain last year’s success and if we can keep everyone fit and continue to progress then we will be more than competitive this season.”
