Herne Bay honour gentleman's agreement with Canterbury City to share Winch's Field
Wednesday 11th August 2010
HERNE BAY chairman John Bathurst says he has honoured a Gentleman’s Agreement to ensure Kent County League side Canterbury City play at Winch’s Field, writes Stephen McCartney.
Mr Bathurst has issued a statement on his club’s website www.hernebayfc.net, confirming that he has honoured a Gentlemen’s Agreement with former Canterbury chairman Phil Knight, and agreed terms with the club’s new chairman Tim Clark, allowing Canterbury to continue their progress.
Mr Bathurst said: “The 3 year agreement will allow Canterbury City to push for promotion out of the County League playing at a ground which has already achieved a Ryman Step 4 grade E rating.
“Herne Bay FC are pleased to help a neighbouring club push forward to achieve their ambitions to bring senior football back to the City.
“Both clubs agree that this groundshare could mutually benefit both clubs.”
The groundshare deal will commence as soon as existing tenants, Norton Sports, start playing at their new home ground at Woodstock Park.
