Hessenthaler puts record straight over Hockton speculation

Friday 05th September 2008

DOVER ATHLETIC boss Andy Hessenthaler would like to set the record straight following speculation that he is set to sign Bromley striker Danny Hockton, writes Justin Allen.

The Whites boss has this week been speaking to a prolific forward in non-league football who used to play in the professional ranks.

But Hess, speaking to www.doverathletic.com, said: "I've not spoken to Danny Hockton or Bromley. Of course, he's a quality player, but he's at another club - and it would be unfair of me to talk about him.

"This story has come from a group of supporters on an internet forum - and I can state now that the player I have been talking to is not Danny Hockton.

"Unfortunately, he will not be in place by Saturday - as there are a few things that would need to be sorted before we would be in a position to sign him, as the lad is playing at another club at the moment."

Hessenthaler has a fully-fit squad for the match against unbeaten Ashford Town (Middlesex) on Saturday - a match between the top two sides in the Ryman Premier League after six games.
