It was good to get the three points and clean sheet at Lordswood, says Hollands & Blair boss Bryan Greenfield

HOLLANDS & BLAIR manager Bryan Greenfield says he’s feeling delighted with his side’s 3-0 derby day win at Lordswood last weekend.

Louis Valencia headed in the first goal, before Gary Lockyer celebrated his birthday by scoring a brace at Martyn Grove as Hollands & Blair claimed the local bragging rights in the Medway clash.

The Blair are in the top six in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 30 points from their 15 league outings after picking up seven points from their last three games.

“The boys did exactly what we asked of them last weekend by going out and matching the work rate and desire of the opposition in a derby game and if they did that then their quality would come through, which it did,” said Greenfield.

“Little bit disappointed that we didn’t put the game to bed by half-time and we’ve been guilty of that over the last few games and turning a comfortable game into a tight affair but thankfully we didn’t allow that this time so it was good to get the three points and a clean sheet.”

Dickson Gill brings his Croydon side to Darland Avenue on Saturday sitting in tenth-place in the table with 17 points from 12 games.

Greenfield said: “Having played against Croydon a few times last year, I felt they finished in a false position in the league. They were a lot better than their league position suggested and we had tight games against them.

“They have the same manager and from what I can see they have mainly the same squad from last season and they were 2-0 up away at Ashford until late on very recently so we are under no illusions how difficult Saturday’s game will be.”
