I'm glad to get back to league action tomorrow, says Hollands & Blair boss Bryan Greenfield

Friday 28th October 2016

HOLLANDS & BLAIR boss Bryan Greenfield says he’s smarting over the club’s FA Vase exit at the hands of Ascot United last weekend.

The Gillingham based outfit suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to the Hellenic League side in the First Round.

“Our last match against Ascot was disappointing for obvious reasons,” said Greenfield.

“They were missing players and so were we. It didn’t make for a great game of football in all honesty but it was a game that we definitely felt we could and should have won.”

Erith Town arrive at Star Meadow tomorrow on a run of three straight defeats and sit in the bottom four in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table on 10 points from 14 games.

Hollands & Blair, meanwhile, are in the top-five having won six, drawn five and lost one of their league games this season.

Greenfield, who was the club’s left-back when Paul Piggott guided the club to runners-up in their debut season last term, said: “I’m glad to get back to league action tomorrow as three defeats in three cup games has taken away the form that the boys had going in the league.

“Erith Town will be a difficult game tomorrow as all games are if you don’t turn up on the day, so it’ll be another chance to test the character of the squad and as individuals.   We look forward to it.”
