Holmesdale's Kent League aspirations are in member clubs hands - EXCLUSIVE

The Kent League will have a new club next season - if current member clubs vote them in, writes Stephen McCartney.

Bromley based side Holmesdale have clinched back-to-back titles, winning the British Energy Kent County League premier division title last month.

And now the Oakley Road outfit hope the current sixteen member clubs welcome them at the League’s annual general meeting at Lordswood on Wednesday, 13^th June.

Holmesdale’s secretary, Mark Hayes hopes the club will replace Whitstable Town, last season’s double winners who embark on their first ever campaign in the Ryman League in two months time, in the Kent League when it’s season kick’s off on 11^th August.

“We have been granted permission for our floodlights,” Mr Hayes said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.

“We have been invited to attend the Kent League AGM to which we have been asked to give a presentation to the Kent League clubs of our current and future planned facilities.

“We are just revising our five year development plan. We are starting year three this summer to include what we need to achieve for ground grading requirements for the Kent League.”

Many Kent League managers complain about the lack of matches that their teams play, but if their clubs welcome Holmesdale next season, they will play 32 league fixtures again next season.

And the playing surface at Oakley Road for their final game of last season - a 2-2 draw against Rusthall - was immaculate and puts some clubs to shame.

Mr Hayes added: “It looks like it will be down to the clubs to vote us in or out.”
