We're looking to keep this winning run going, says Hythe Town assistant manager Will Graham

HYTHE TOWN assistant manager Will Graham says he wants to extend their impressive run of winning league form.

Graham was put in charge of Saturday’s 4-1 win at Three Bridges, a result that keeps the Crawley-based outfit in the relegation zone, while Hythe Town sit in third-place in the Ryman League Division One South table on 26 points from 11 games.

The Cannons are four points adrift of leaders Dorking Wanderers – who suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Chatham Town at the weekend.

“We’re on a good run of form currently and after last season’s poor performance against Three Bridges it was always going to be a tricky game,” said Graham.

“We went into the game with full respect for Three Bridges knowing they are very strong at home.  We saw that first hand last season being in a great form prior to the game and came off being undone by them.

“We were without Kenny Pogue who was suspended and Chris Saunders who was injured, so we needed to move a few things around, which can always unsettle you.”

Alfie May notched his 12^th goal of the season to give Hythe Town a sixteenth-minute lead, before Three Bridges equalised through Hakeem Adelakum eight minutes into the second half.

But Hythe Town clinched the victory, courtesy of three goals in the final fourteen minutes.  Frankie Sawyer scored his fifth goal of the season, from the penalty spot, before sub Alex Mulrooney-Skinner scored two late goals.

“With the game being level after 60 minutes, I spoke with Laney (Mark Lane) and we both agreed that bringing on some fresh legs in Liam King and Alex Mulrooney-Skinner would benefit us,” explained Graham.

“The change worked perfect for the team with Kingy getting brought down in the box and two great individual goals from Alex sealed all three points.

“We were in control for probably 90% of the game and missed a few chances but we deserved all three points.”

Graham is in charge again for Tuesday night’s trip to sixth-from-bottom side Chipstead.

Graham said: “It will see Kenny Pogue’s return after suspension and the strength in depth the team has given us options to change the squad around and keen things fresh.

“I have the reins again on Tuesday whilst the gaffer is away and obviously looking to keep this winning run going for him.

“We know what Chipstead are like and they play their pitch really well and they try playing the right way. We need to stamp our authority on the game and keep the winning run going into the upcoming games.”
