Hythe bound Shearer scoops hat-trick of awards

FAVERSHAM TOWN jointly celebrated the 125th anniversary of the club's birth along with the club's most successful season to date in their end of season celebration evening, writes Tony Gray.

 


A full house at the town's Alexander Center included the town mayor Anita Walker along with Keith Masters, chief executive of the Kent County Football Association as the Salters Lane club celebrated a season which saw them crowned champions of the Bulmers Cider Kent League as well as picking up further silverware as winners of the Kent Senior Trophy and losing semi-finalists in the Kent League Cup.

The 160 guests enjoyed a four-course meal, stand-up bingo and live music from local band Back Track in an evening that saw the presentation of end of season awards for the club's first and under 18 teams.

Dan Ellett collected the Golden Boot and Supporter's Player of the Year awards for Kevin Doyle's U18 side whilst Jake Brissenden picked up both the Players Player and Manager's Player awards as the youth side ended another successful season as runners up in the Valley Express Kent Youth League.

For the first team Lee Shearer picked up 3 of the 4 awards on offer - collecting the trophies for Leading Goalscorer, Players Player and Supporters Player of the Season.

Manager Justin Luchford's Player of the Season Award going to Shane Hamshare.

Other Awards saw Luchford honoured for his efforts during his 3 year spell in charge whilst club legend Ray Leader was awarded the Clubman of the Year award along with a special presentation recognising his years of fund-raising on behalf of the club.
