I am really pleased to sign for Hythe Town again next season, says award winning defender Laurence Harvey

HYTHE TOWN boss Tim Dixon say he is delighted that Laurence Harvey has put pen to paper on a deal to stay at Reachfields Stadium next season.

 

The 24-year-old defender scooped the players’ player-of-the-year and supporters’ player-of-the-year awards at the club’s presentation night last Saturday.

Dixon, who guided the club to a sixteenth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table in his first season in charge of the club, told www.hythetownfc.co.uk: "I am delighted that Laurence has re-signed for next season.

“Laurence has become a hugely popular member of the squad and played a major role during the last campaign. He seems to be improving every season and the club are delighted that he will be at the heart of the defence again next year."

Harvey made 52 appearances for the club last season, missing only two cup games to rest minor knocks.

He also played a massive part in one of the club’s most enjoyable wins of the season – an 1-0 away win against Guernsey – when he played through illness because Dixon didn’t have any reconigised defenders available for the game.

Harvey added: "I am really pleased to sign for Hythe Town again for next season. The season just gone was obviously frustrating in terms of league position, but we have a great group of players with a lot of quality, with a few good additions to the squad I believe that we can push for a play-off place next season.

"Hythe is a great club, with a great management team, great board and great supporters and I can't wait to get going again next season."

Harvey re-signed for the club from Whitstable Town last summer, where he had been impressing for the two and a half seasons since he left Hythe, having originally signed for the Cannons during their first season in the Ryman League Division One South.

He first broke into Ryman football at Ashford Town and also includes Sittingbourne on his CV. The highlight of his short footballing career was his time at Maidstone United during their first campaign in the Ryman Premier.
