I’m looking forward to a fresh start and new beginnings. I’m not going to rush into anything and I am open to having conversations with club’s to start the next steps into making a decision, says Ryan Palmer

RYAN PALMER says he could not agree terms on a new deal at Hythe Town and will be looking for a new club to play for next season.

 

The 28-year-old midfielder was under non-contract terms at the Bostik South East Division club but left the Reachfields Stadium club on good terms and praised manager Sam Denly.

“I have chosen to not take up the offer of staying at Hythe Town, even though being offered another year,” said Palmer.

“This was based on not being able to agree personal terms and wanting to explore a new venture after being at the club for two years.

“I’m very thankful for my time at Hythe, it’s been great and it’s an excellent club to be involved with.

“My time at Hythe has been fantastic.  I’ve scored 15 plus goals and have been vice-captain and captain this season.

“Playing under Sam Denly, Gavin Theze and Steve Nolan has been refreshing. They love to see you express yourself and they value your opinion as players and human beings.  Sam is a very nice bloke.

“We really did get on well and I’m sure I’ll stay in contact with them.

“I’ve had many conversations with Sam regarding players, training, professionalism and he is always listening and valuing my opinion.  I think it goes beyond football with Sam when I say I will definitely be staying in contact with Sam, Gav and Steve.

“The chairman, club, committee have all been very friendly, supportive and welcoming around the club to make me feel safe and secure.

“This has all added to my great opinion of the club and the people that work very hard to keep it running so well.  I’m going to miss all the players as they became family and Hythe was like a second home.”

Palmer now begins the search for a new club.

He said: “I’m looking forward to a fresh start and new beginnings. I’m not going to rush into anything and I am open to having conversations with club’s to start the next steps into making a decision for the upcoming season.

“Professionalism is key for me as I like to be in an environment where there is a winning mentality with high expectations, that’s just how I am as a person.

“But I’m sure that something I can also bring to nay changing room and team with my experience.

“I’m looking forward to my next chapter and excited to see what comes up.”

Meanwhile, Hythe Town have confirmed that centre-half Ollie Rowe and midfielders Chris Kinnear, Tom Carlton and Charlie Webster have extended their stay at Reachfields Stadium next season - but 32-goal striker Zak Ansah has announced his departure.

"Thank you for the last 18 months, it's been a real pleasure, sadly the time has come for me to move on," said Ansah.

Centre-half Mitchell Dickenson, meanwhile, has been selected for the England C squad to play Estonia’s under 23s in Tallinn on Wednesday 5 June.
