Hythe Town's new chairman Vishal Nanda feels it's the right time to part ways with relegated manager Nick Davis by mutual consent
HYTHE TOWN have announced the departure of manager Nick Davis by mutual consent today.
The Cannons suffered their first relegation as the club lost 32 of Davis’ 42 games in charge at Reachfields Stadium, after replacing Sammy Moore in August.
Hythe Town recently announced the arrival of a new chairman and hotelier Vishal Nanda and the 43-year-old gave Davis a couple of games before wielding the axe, as Hythe Town extended their losing streak to six games and eight without a win.
“Following open and honest discussions, both parties felt it was the right time to part ways,” said Mr Nanda, in a club website statement.
“On behalf of everyone at Hythe Town, I’d like to thank Nick for all of his efforts and we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his career.”
Hythe Town won only five, drew five and lost 32 of Davis’ games in charge of the club, who will be playing Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division football at the start of next season.
The Cannons host champions-elect Ramsgate on Good Friday, 18 April (13:00). Ben Smith’s side will clinch the league title with a win.
Hythe Town go into the game sitting second-from-bottom in the Isthmian League South East Division, having picked up six league wins, four draws and 29 defeats.
The club have appointed newly-appointed under 23 manager Martin Chandler as caretaker manager for their last three games, which ends with a trip to Ashford United (21 April) and at home to Beckenham Town on the final day of the season.
A club statement added: “The club would like to place on record its thanks to Nick for his commitment, professionalism and the dedication he has shown throughout his time at Reachfields Stadium.
“The club will shortly begin the process of appointing a new manager and will provide further updates in due course.
“We appreciate the continued support of our fans as we move forward.”
