I am expecting a marked improvement with Kevin Harris in charge, says Ray Simpson

LEWISHAM BOROUGH chairman Ray Simpson has unveiled the club’s new management team tonight.


The club finished in the bottom three (thirteenth-place) in the Kent Invicta League last season with five wins, two draws and 21 defeats.

Simpson - and vice-chairman George Davis - took charge of the side after parting company with manager Willie O’Sullivan last December. 

The former Charlton Athletic player had won four of their opening thirteen league games, securing 13 points, but the pair could only add another four points during their time in charge.

The Ladywell Arena based club have appointed former Bromley reserve team captain Kevin Harris as their new manager.

He will be assisted by Ray Bagnall, who will come in as first team coach.

Bagnall was coach at Thamesmead Town, who suffered their first relegation in their history when they finished third-from-bottom in their inaugural Ryman Premier League campaign last season.

Mr Simpson said: “I am very pleased to have Kevin on board.  He has significant playing experience at a high level and has had good success coaching young players and teams.

“His passion, enthusiasm, knowledge and database of players was key in securing this role.

“With the experience of Ray Bagnall, who has significant coaching experience most recently at Thamesmead Town and prior to that at Erith Town and Slade Green, I am expecting a marked improvement.”

Harris added: “I am delighted to have secured this opportunity to manage this forward thinking club which fits in with my vision and philosophy.

“I met the chairman earlier in the year and was impressed with the facilities and his drive and determination to succeed.

“I cannot wait to get started and meet the players and staff.”
