I am extremely proud of my achievements at Lewisham Borough, says Darrell Queeley

LEWISHAM BOROUGH have sacked head coach Darrell Queeley -  just three days after knocking Erith Town out of the London Senior Cup, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Ladywell Arena based outfit are presently in tenth place in the Kent Invicta League table with four wins and three draws from their 12 league outings.

Queeley, who has been with the club for 20 months, guided the club to a 2-1 win over Kent Hurlimann Football League side Erith Town on Monday night to book a trip to Corinthian-Casuals in the Fourth Round of the London Senior Cup (Sponsored by Coventry Scaffolding), which will be played in Tolworth on 29 November.

Queeley, 32, left Kent League side Sevenoaks Town to join the club as Steve Mattis’ assistant and the pair guided the club from bottom place to a respectable tenth place finish in the Kent County League Premier Division.

Lewisham Borough performed better last term, finishing in seventh place and won a place in the newly formed Kent Invicta League following an appeal.

Queeley issued a statement, saying, “I am extremely proud of my achievements with Lewisham Borough (Community) and I’ve enjoyed an unbelievable relationship with the players’ and staff during my time as head coach.

“We have gone from fighting relegation and last season achieved the club’s highest league finish since they won the title in the 2005-2006 season.

“We have produced some excellent results and even now sit in a comfortable mid-table position.

“The club rightly have a lot of ambition and have decided it is time for a change.  I respect that and wish the club all the best in their quest for success.

“I will now use this time to think and weigh up some options.”
