I am very pleased to have Rhys Lawson joining the club, says Lordswood boss Simon Halsey
Lawson, who can play on either wing or as a striker, has also played for Faversham Town, Herne Bay and Ramsgate.
Halsey told www.lordswoodfc.co.uk: “I am very pleased to have Rhys joining the club. I know what he’s about and what he is capable of doing having had him playing for me previously at Herne Bay. He will add a lot of strength, depth and experience to the squad as we look to build on the foundations that we have put down.”
Having only recently joined Hythe Town, Lawson has said that due to work he was unable to currently commit to playing Ryman League football, but that he loved his time at Reachfields Stadium.
Meanwhile, Shane Uings joins the club from local rivals Rochester United.
Halsey said: “Shane is a strong and skilful central midfielder who will give us an extra option in the middle of the park. I saw him a couple of times this season when he played against us and he was the stand-out player in the opposition team.”
Halsey added: “These two signings will contribute significantly in strengthening the squad we have here. With the likes of (former Herne Bay defenders) Calum McGeehan and Tom Bryant already here, we are attracting the attention of players wanting to join our ever improving side as we look to push on for the rest of the season and beyond.”
Both new signings are likely to feature in the first–team squad for Lordswood’s trip to Sittingbourne based Woodstock Sports next Wednesday night.
The Lords are presently sitting in eight-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table, having won four game and drawn two of their 12 league games.
The Medway based side are nine points adrift of leaders Erith Town, having played a couple more games than Mark Tompkins’ side.
Woodstock Sports, meanwhile, are rooted to the foot of the table, having picked up a win and a draw from their opening nine games. They are now managed by former Lordswood player Lee Hockey.
