Ian Jenkins pounds the streets of London to raise funds for charity

GREENWICH BOROUGH manager Ian Jenkins has proved that he can last the distance in April.



Jenkins, 46, has been in charge of the club for just one game since taking over as manager – a 1-0 home defeat to local rivals Erith Town on 18 January.

The club – like hundreds of other non-league sides – have suffered from the wettest winter in 250 years and they haven’t been able to take to the field since.

Greenwich Borough are in ninth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table with 23 points from 16 games and are scheduled to travel to Gay Dawn Farm on Saturday to tackle sixth-placed Corinthian.

Jenkins said today that he will be pounding the streets of London in the Marathon on Sunday 13 April.

This will be the third time that the former Cray Wanderers player and manager has run the Marathon and he has raised over £6,000 for charity with times of 4:12:12 and 4:18:12.

Jenkins said: “I’m running the London Marathon again this year and hope to raise over £1,750 for Breast Cancer Campaign, a charity close to heart having seen the affect it had on those in my family, who suffered this terrible disease. Thankfully all have recovered.
