I know my team will only get stronger, says Hollands & Blair boss Paul Piggott

HOLLANDS & BLAIR boss Paul Piggott says his side will have to be at their best to beat Sheppey United on Saturday.Defending champions Blair go into the Christmas clash sitting in second-place in the Pain & Glory Sports Kent Invicta League table, having won thirteen and lost three of their league games this season.
The Gillingham-based outfit are four points adrift of leaders Lydd Town, but they do have a game in hand.
Sheppey United – promoted from the Kent County League Premier at the end of last season – are in third-place in the table, a couple of points behind Piggott’s men.
“The festive period sometimes throws up some surprising results so going into our game against Sheppey, we’ll have to be at our best to get what we want from the game,” said Piggott.
Reflecting on their 6-0 win away to Seven Acre & Sidcup last weekend, Piggott hailed the performance from his side.
He said: “Our last performance against Seven Acre & Sidcup away was probably the best 45 minutes of football that I’ve sat and watched from a Blair side.
“I think the players are starting to play with full confidence again after a sluggish start to the season and a little continuity in the side has helped with that.
“We’ve been a little unlucky at times with injuries, suspensions and decisions, so I think we’ve got over that now and ready to take on the second half of the season.
“If we win our game in hand we go a point behind leaders Lydd and we’re still in both cups so I’ll take that at this stage as I know my team will only get stronger.
“I also think the top sides in this league are as strong as any we’ve had over the last few seasons so they’ll be plenty of games won and lost before the title is decided which can only be good for the league.”
Both Blair and Lydd Town have installed floodlights at their ground this season and whoever claims the League title are likely to claim a place in the Southern Counties East Football League next season.
Piggott added: “There’s the extra carrot of promotion this season with all the clubs doing the off-the-field things that we needed to get up.”
