I'm enjoying my football at Faversham Town, says striker Adrian Stone

STRIKER Adrian Stone says he is happy to stay at Faversham Town next season.
The Ryman League Division One South club revealed Stone has turned down a number of approaches from other clubs during the course of the season, but the Bromley based striker has pledged his future to the Salters Lane outfit.

Last season he helped Tonbridge Angels clinch promotion out of the Ryman Premier League, as Tommy Warrilow’s side beat Harrow Borough and Lowestoft Town in the end of season play-off’s.

But Stone opted to drop down to play for Faversham Town during the close season and says he likes the atmosphere at Salters Lane.

“I spent five years with Bromley and last season won promotion with Tonbridge,” Stone told www.favershamtownfc.co.uk.

“I did not really want to drop down but when the opportunity to play at Faversham came up, I was positive.  I wanted to be a part of it.

“It is a very friendly club.  I have turned down a number of offers this season because I am enjoying my football here, the atmosphere is great.”

Stone, who has missed just one game this season, did not fancy the prospect of being a benchwarmer in Conference South, which influenced his decision to join Faversham Town.

He said: “I like the balance of the new in Ray Turner and the old in Clive Walker.

“I am not happy with (my goalscoring) return, but I am creating chances for my team mates and happy to be a target man if needed.”

When asked how he is feeling physically, the fifteen-goal striker added: “I have a few aches and pains but this is the fittest I have been for years!”

Meanwhile, Kevin Doyle’s under 18 side travel to Bromley tonight to play their final Ryman Youth League game of the season.

Faversham Town will finish second-from-bottom in the table if they avoid defeat to basement side Bromley.

The Hayes Lane clash kick’s off at 7:45pm and admission is £2.
