I'm going to have strikers Cass and May at the club next season, insists Burman - EXCLUSIVE

Dartford boss Tony Burman is currently in negotiations with striker Jay May, 21, to keep him at Princes Park next season, writes Stephen McCartney.

The former Tonbridge Angels striker has been selected for the FA XI squad to play against the Amateur Football Alliance at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill Stadium on Wednesday night (7:45pm).

May is joined by some familiar names that have all played for Kent clubs, including Dale Brightly, Jerome John, Lee Gledhill, Jamie Coyle, Danny Glozier and Paul Vines.

And Dover Athletic star midfielder Jon Wallis has been named in the FA squad too.

“It’s nice to be recognised for a good season that he’s had,” Burman said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight.

“He’s picked up a couple of awards from supporters as well and it’s nice to be representing the FA in the match on Wednesday.”

Burman confirmed that his leading goalscorer, Brendon Cass will be at Princes Park Stadium next season.

Cass and May have scored over 40 goals between them this season.

“Brendon is on contract for next season anyway,” he said. “Brendon was already committed until the end of next season and at this moment in time, we’re sitting down with Jay and speaking to him.”

But Burman believes May will put pen to paper on a deal so the pair can terrorise defences again next term.

“I think he’s realised what’s happened this season,” he said. “He was with the club before in the youth set up and a player I wanted to sign seasons ago but didn’t pull it off.

“He’s only 21, I still think he’s got a lot of potential with a bit to learn and I want to improve him even more for next year.”

Burman insists he will be in charge of the club when the season kick’s off on 18^th August.

“I’ve sat down with the board of directors two weeks ago and I’ve got no feelings of packing in the job at the moment,” he said.

“I’ve got no negative feelings and the board of directors want me to carry on as well.”

Burman revealed that he will be speaking to every one of his current squad by the end of the month.

“I will speak to them in May and see who will be going or staying. We may make approaches for certain players by the end of May,” he said.

And Burman has unveiled that Paul Hennessey has been appointed as the club's under 21 manager next season, replacing Grant Spelling who stepped down at the end of this season to search for a first team role elsewhere.
