I'm not interested about how we perform on the day, says Burman

DARTFORD boss Tony Burman has told his side not to slip up on a potential banana skin away to relegation threatened Waltham Abbey on Easter Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Darts are ten points clear at the top of the Ryman Premier League table and travel to Capershotts knowing that the Essex side will be fighting for their lives to avoid returning to Ryman League Division One North.

Waltham Abbey are only one point off basement side Bognor Regis Town, but Burman has told his side not to take anything for granted.

“We know Waltham Abbey is going to be a tough place to go,” Burman told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.

“If you haven’t got your attitude right and things like that you could come unstuck.  We’re trying to stay focused on what we do and however you do it, three points are up for grabs and we want to get them.”

He added: “You’ve got to be on the ball when you go to Waltham Abbey.  They’ve signed a few new players just before the (transfer) deadline and they’ll want to do the best for their manager and their club.

“Waltham Abbey are in a relegation scrap and I’m expecting a very tough game.”

Dartford return to action on Easter Monday (3pm) when Canvey Island are the visitors to Princes Park.

“I think Canvey have still got a chance of sneaking into the play-off’s, if they have two good results over the weekend,” warned Burman.

“It’s all to play for and we know we’ve got two tough games but the important game at this moment in time is Saturday, trying to get three points and Monday we’ll do the same thing, nothing changes.

“I’m not interested in how we perform on the day, it’s now about getting points on the board and that’s what we’ll endeavour to do.”

Lee Burns is still not fit, whilst Ryan Johnson trained last night but isn’t quite ready to feature just yet.

Striker Jay May, 24, meanwhile, returns to Tonbridge Angels on loan until the end of the season.

Burman explained: “Jay has just come back from a small operation and he was finding it hard, difficult to get into the squad at the moment.  That’s no disrespect to him, but he needed some games.”

“Tommy Warrilow wanted to have a chat and he’s taken him and hopefully he can play quite a few games for him.”
