I'm very excited about what lies ahead for Hythe Town, says Tim Dixon

Monday 19th May 2014
HYTHE TOWN’S new manager Tim Dixon says the hard work starts now as he prepares for life at Reachfields Stadium.

Dixon, 48, was unveiled as the club’s new manager by chairman Trevor Kennett tonight.

He replaces Scott Porter, who stepped down from the role on 6 May, after five successful seasons in charge.

Porter, the  most successful manager in the club’s history, guided the Cannons to a top-eight finish in the Ryman League Division One South table, with 73 points from 46 games last season.

Porter’s men just missed out on the play-offs by six points, a year after finishing in their highest ever position of fourth-place.

Dixon has been out of football management since his controversial sacking at Ramsgate on 22 February.

Dixon will bring with him Darren Beale as his assistant manager after working together during their time at Ramsgate.

“I’m very happy to become Hythe Town manager this evening and thankful to Trevor Kennett and the Hythe board of directors for giving me and Darren this opportunity,” said Dixon.

“Scott Porter has done a brilliant job over the last few years and built up a fantastic team spirit and a really good squad which is partly the reason why they had such a strong run at the end of last season’s campaign.

“My first job is to try and speak to the players that were signed last year to see if any of them would be interested in being part of my squad.

“I’m playing catch up a little bit at this stage but I’ve got a busy couple of weeks ahead and the hard work starts now.

“We have held very constructive talks with the board this evening and are very excited about what lies ahead for Hythe Town FC.”
