In-form Cray Wanderers blow landlords apart to reach County Cup Final
CRAY WANDERERS romped into the Kent Senior Cup final following a shock 6-1 win over landlords Bromley at Hayes Lane last night, writes Stephen McCartney.
Ian Jenkins’ side, currently in third place in the Ryman League Division One South table, courtesy of an amazing 19 league match unbeaten run, ended Bromley’s dominance in the competition.
Bromley had previously won the Kent Senior Cup competition for the past two years, having defeated Gravesend & Northfleet, as they were known then and Tonbridge Angels.
But Wands fan Chris Reeve was delighted by his side’s performance to set up a final against Margate or Ebbsfleet United as the club go in search for their first ever Kent Senior Cup success.
“As an unbiased Cray fan I can tell you Cray played the best they ever have and blew Bromley away with their attacking football,” Mr Reeves told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
He added: ”Of course Cray and Bromley are local rivals as Cray ground-share at Bromley’s Hayes Lane ground.
“Bromley are in the Blue Square South and are two divisions above Cray Wanderers. It’s the first time that Cray Wanderers have beaten a club that senior.
“Bromley had their best team out but they do have injuries.”
Six different Cray players got on the score sheet last night; Michael Power, Steve Aris, Jamie Kempster, Cottrell, Lewis Wood and George Fenwick.
