I need big bucks to bring in 20-goal striker, says Huntley

BECKENHAM TOWN boss Jason Huntley says he may shake up his squad as he bids to keep their season on track, writes Stephen McCartney.
Kent interest in this season’s FA Carlsberg Vase ended last weekend as Beckenham were dumped out of the competition by a poor Tiptree United side at Maldon Town’s Park Drive ground.
Beckenham dominated the first half, but only had a James Holder header to show for their efforts, before Danny Gorman tripped Jamie Ricks inside the box and Eddie Hart levelled through the resulting injury time penalty.
The second half, however, saw the Essex side go in front, courtesy of two goals from substitute Bradley Hunter, before a 22-man brawl resulted in Holder and Jamal York both seeing red for Beckenham, along with Hunter for the Essex hosts, and Danny Gorman smashed home a second for Beckenham deep into stoppage time.
Huntley, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk inside the Maldon Town clubhouse after the game, was disappointed that his side have now lost their last three games - and demands a response for Saturday’s home tie against Holmesdale in the Kent Senior Trophy.
The Dalers, who forfeited their previous game against Deal Town seven days earlier, bounced back from adversity, as goals from Billy Warner and a brace from Tony Atkins sealed a 3-0 win over Sporting Bengal United at Mile End in Gary Davies’ first game in charge off the club.
“I think that will be a tough game if I’m honest,” said Huntley. “I know Gary has taken over and he’ll bring a few players in.
“I said to the boys, as well a start that we’ve had, our season could be over before Christmas! We could go out of the Kent Cup, we’ve gone out of the Vase, we’ve lost our last two league games, we’re slipping down the league table, with Faversham going up.
“Maybe I need to get a few new faces in as well? To be fair, I certainly need someone up front. We’ve not had, for the last three seasons, someone who is going to get us 20 goals and that’s what’s done us but as you know, strikers are hard to get unless you pay them big bucks.”
