I still feel I have something to offer, says Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster

DOVER ATHLETIC boss Nicky Forster says he will be registering himself as a player this coming season,  only playing if needed.

The 38-year-old, who has previously played for Horley Town, Gillingham, Brentford, Birmingham City, Reading, Ipswich Town, Hull City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford and home-town club Lingfield, will have an extra attacking option without affecting his squad budget.

There are currently here strikers in the squad, following the signing of Calum Willock from Ebbsfleet United.  Last season’s top scorer, Billy Bricknell and playmaker Terry Dixon are also on contract at the Blue Square Bet South club.

Last season the club brought in mid-season signings and loanees and Forster is keen to steer away from that unless absolutely necessary and is willing to put himself on the pitch to fight for the cause.

Forster told www.doverathletic.com:  “My intention is to be there if needed, if needed! There were times last season when perhaps my experience could have benefited individuals and us as a team on the pitch.

“It is not a decision I have taken lightly and after talking to people who have both managed and played at this level, I feel I still have something to offer whilst giving us the ability to utilise another player at no extra cost.”
