It's an honour to be appointed Stones reserve boss at the age of 22, says Jim Bodle

MAIDSTONE UNITED have announced Jim Bodle as the manager of their reserve team.

The 22-year-old is no stranger to the club having played for the under 13s through to the first team. He has also been the captain of the Kent schoolboys side and played for Chatham Town.

In taking charge of the reserves, he hopes to continue the team’s strong reputation of providing players for the Maidstone United first team, who will be playing in Ryman League Division One South following their relegation on the final day of last season.

He told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk: “It is an honour to be given a managerial role within the club considering my age. That said, I’ve gained a lot of experience playing for Maidstone United over an eight year period. I know Jay Saunders and his coaching team really well and have known Bill Williams for a number of years.

“Although an injury has stopped me playing football for the time being, I’ve gained a number of coaching qualifications. I am looking forward to getting to know the players and helping them develop their game. I hope the team can achieve a lot next season and hopefully a few players can make the step up to the first team.”

Club chief executive, Bill Williams, said: “In Jim Bodle we have got a local lad who is passionate about Maidstone United, passionate about coaching and passionate about taking his football career to the next level. I am delighted to give him that opportunity and hope he will bring his coaching skills and enthusiasm to benefit a talented bunch of young players.”

Maidstone United reserves play in the Kent League Division One. Home games are played at the Cobdown Sports and Social Club in Ditton.
