It's a two-year plan and we're ahead of schedule, says Sittingbourne joint-boss Jim Ward

Monday 29th October 2012
SITTINGBOURNE joint-manager Jim Ward says playing bottom-of-the-table side Walton Casuals will not be easy on Tuesday night.

Ward has guided the Brickies to seventh-place in the Ryman League Division One South table after his first eleven-league games in charge of the club.

Surrey side Walton Casuals arrive at Bourne Park sitting in the sole relegation place, having collected 10 points from their eleven league outings.

But despite Casuals’ lowly position, Ward warned: “Don’t tell me that there is an easy game in this division because there isn’t!

“We were fifth, which was nose bleed country to be honest after last Saturday.  We didn’t play last Tuesday, giving us a game in hand in hand over a lot of them, which is tomorrow.

“I’m not really worried about where we are in the League.  I’m worried about the players about how much more can we get into them – how much better can they get and we’ll try and get there.”

Ward is pleased how things are going at Bourne Park after taking over in the summer.

He said: “It’s a two-year plan and at the moment we’re ahead of schedule.

“But that said in a couple of weeks’ time we could be behind schedule so we’ve noting yet to get excited about.”

Ward revealed defender Nick Davis will be back in the squad on Tuesday because he has been away in San Francisco through work commitments.

He added: “We’ll just have to go again on Tuesday and hopefully put in a better performance to take all the points.”
