It's very important to get to a cup final, says Luchford
Sunday 28th February 2010
FAVERSHAM TOWN boss Justin Luchford is keeping the championship winning Champaign on ice for a little bit longer -despite going 13 points clear at the top of the Bulmers Cider Kent League table, writes Stephen McCartney.
Goals from Tom Hickman and substitute Richard Sinden sealed a 2-1 win over third-placed Hythe Town in front of a bumper crowd of 327 yesterday, to take another giant step towards clinching promotion into the Ryman League.
But treble-chasing Luchford is concentrating on next Saturday’s Kent Senior Trophy semi-final tie against Deal Town, rather than shouting from the rooftops over his side’s position at the summit.
“All I say, we’ve got Deal next week in the Trophy and that’s all I’m interested in,” Luchford told www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“It’s important. Very important,” he continued. “We want to give this club a cup final.
“I said that at the beginning of the season, a cup final is an important thing and we’ll be focused next Saturday trying to get this club into a cup final.
“It will be a good day out for the fans, the club and the players.
When it was suggested about his side winning the Kent League title, level-headed Luchford replied, “As I say, we’ve got Deal next Saturday and we’ll concentrate on that.
“I’ve said all along, five games to go, ask me that question then!”
