It will be nice to get one over on Bromley, says Dartford boss Tony Burman

DARTFORD boss Tony Burman says he wants to claim the local bragging rights from Bromley and clinch the Kent Senior Cup for the first time since 1988, writes Stephen McCartney.


Burman wants to beat Hayden Bird’s side for the first time this season, having shared an exciting 2-2 draw at Princes Park last September, before crashing to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Hayes Lane on Good Friday.

“The first thing is Bromley have got the bragging rights from the league games,” admitted Burman.

”They’ve given us a good pounding, beating us 4-1 last week so we want to avenge that defeat and I’m sure we’ll have a good go in doing that.

”It’s not a league game, both sides can hopefully play some open football and entertain a crowd which should be a reasonably crowd.

”It will be nice to get one over on Bromley after the defeat on Good Friday.”
 
Burman is relishing the prospect of his club claiming the silverware for the tenth time in Dartford’s history.

”Unfortunately (Kent Senior Cup) games come at the wrong time as we all have very important games to play on the Saturday and it doesn’t take preference but the longer you go in the competition the more important it comes,” said Burman.

”Us and Bromley have now got into the final and both clubs want to finish up with a bit of silverware.

”It’s on the best Stadium, by far, in the area and it’s on a decent pitch at this time of the season, so hopefully it will be a good day out and both clubs enjoy it.  Obviously we want to enjoy it come quarter-to-five.

”It’s about time (we won it), yes.  It’s nice to be involved and it will be nice to have another bit of silverware if we can but we have to be aware about what Bromley can do.”

Meanwhile, the Kent County Football Association have confirmed the four match officials for Monday’s Final.

Stuart Butler is the match referee, with Graeme Ions and Paul Beadle running the line, with Darren Blunden taking up fourth official duties.

A crowd of at least 1,500 is expected.  Tickets are priced (at the turnstiles) at £10 (adults), £5 (under 16s and over 60s), £2 (children under 12), whilst children under the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult.

Lee Burns, meanwhile, misses the Cup Final through suspension.
