I was pretty sure I was heading to Hythe Town, says striker Luke Harvey

The 28-year-old was the Lilywhites’ leading goalscorer for the past two seasons but chances at Salters Lane have been limited this season and he has opted to leave and sign for the Cannons.

Harvey was a late substitute in Faversham Town’s 2-2 home draw against Folkestone Invicta at the weekend, but is now a Hythe Town player.

“I am extremely pleased to announce the signing of Luke Harvey,” Dixon told www.hythetownfc.co.uk.

“He has been a tremendous servant for Faversham Town and he has a great deal of respect for Ray Turner and his former club, this has been highlighted in the fact that he agreed to stay with them until after the Folkestone game this weekend.

“As expressed by Ray recently, he will bring a great deal to his next club and I’m pleased to say that will be Hythe Town.

“There have been many other Kent clubs after his signature over the last couple of weeks and he can now join the Cannons and concentrate on helping us move up the league.”

Hythe Town sit in sixteenth-place in the Ryman League Division One South table with 25 points from 23 games – seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Dixon added: “Luke has been top scorer for the past two seasons at Faversham and we will give him every opportunity to continue that form at Hythe.

“Not only is he a very good footballer, he’s a terrific character to have around the place and will fit in with the current squad and how we want to do things in the future.”

Harvey opted not to make his Hythe Town debut against his former club Herne Bay on Saturday, which Herne Bay won 2-1, courtesy of two goals from Stuart King, which takes his goalscoring tally up to 22 goals for the season.

Harvey will be included in the squad which travels to Sittingbourne this coming Saturday.

Harvey said: “To be honest it’s been a long two weeks decided what club was best for me next!

“I’ve got good friends at a few clubs I’ve spoken to.  Being friends with Dan Eason and Rhys Lawson and hearing what they say about Hythe, I knew it was a great club like Faversham.

“After watching the Guernsey game (which Hythe won 6-0) last Tuesday I was pretty sure I knew I’d be heading to Reachfields.

“After a couple of days thinking about it, the thought of playing in the same team as players that I’ve had some great battles with over the years also excited me.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully helping us continue to climb up the table.”

Meanwhile, under 18 striker Henry Fulcher has signed Ryman forms at the club and is the latest player from the Hythe Stars & Stripes youth set-up to join up with the senior squad, following in the footsteps of Harry Carr, Jamie White and Simba Nyaruwa.
