Jamie Day gives trialists the chance to impress against Herne Bay
Wednesday 07th July 2010
WELLING UNITED kick-off their pre-season campaign on Saturday, with a trip to last season’s Kent League runners up Herne Bay, writes Stephen McCartney.
Player-manager, Jamie Day, told www.kentishfootball.co.uk that he will cast his eye over around 22 players for the warm-up match at Winch’s Field.
Striker Lee Clarke, however, misses the game as he is still on holiday.
“I’m looking forward to our first pre-season game after a long break,” said Day, whose side play three league’s above Herne Bay.
“The boys have worked hard over the last two weeks so it’ll be good for them to all get some game time.
“We will hopefully take 22 players to the match, so we can have a look at some of the trialists that are still left with us.
“Our aim is to get 45 minutes for most of our players.”
