Keith McMahon brings Ryan Briggs to Bayliss Avenue

Thursday 22nd July 2010
THAMESMEAD TOWN boss Keith McMahon has unveiled his fourth summer signing, by bringing a former West Ham Academy player to the progressive Bayliss Avenue club, writes Stephen McCartney.

Highly-rated and much-sought after midfielder Ryan Briggs has put pen to paper and has signed for the Ryman League Division One North club.

The 29-year-old boasts a wealth of experience, having previously played for Dover Athletic, Chesham United, Folkestone Invicta, Grays Athletic, Bromley, Dulwich Hamlet, Tonbridge Angels, Dartford, Erith & Belvedere and Ashford Town.

Briggs was forced to leave Ashford through work commitments last season and McMahon told www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk that he will hand Briggs his debut on Saturday, when Whitstable Town visit Bayliss Avenue.

“It’s a really good signing for the club,” said McMahon.  “Ryan will fit with our style of play and he is a very good playmaker and will add a great deal of experience to the squad.

“He was at Ashford last season, but was forced to leave due to work commitments at the time.”

Mead will kick-off their new season with a trip to last season’s Eastern Counties League champions and Ryman League newboys Needham Market on 21 August.

The first league action at Bayliss Avenue will take place three days later when Essex side Brentwood Town visit.
