Kent County League announce squads for FA Inter League Cup warm-up games
Friday 01st February 2013
The draw for the Preliminary Round of the 2013-14 FA Inter League Cup has been made and the Haart of Kent County League have a home tie against traditional foes the Sussex County League. The match has been arranged for Saturday, 2nd March at Chatham Town’s Maidstone Road ground.
The FA Inter League Cup is limited to leagues at Step 7 of the National League System and other leagues as decided by The FA.
It was created to find a winning League representative side to fly the flag for England in the UEFA Regions Cup. The competition is strictly for amateur players who have never been under a written professional contract.
Prior to the Cup being created the FA nominated a League to represent England and for the 2002-03 UEFA Regions Cup the Kent County League were delighted to be chosen as England’s representative.
They were selected from 12 leagues which had indicated an interest in being involved.
The Kent County League team went on to finish second in a qualifying competition hosted by Estonia, just failing to make it through to the Finals in Germany.
Two warm up games have now been arranged, on Wednesday 20th February against Otford United. This match kicks off at 7:15pm at the Otford Recreation Ground.
The second game is on Monday, 25th February against the University of Kent on the 3G pitch on the campus with an 8:00pm kick-off.
The squads have now been announced for the two warm up matches and four players from Premier Division leaders Metrogas will line up against Division One side Otford United.
Former Sittingbourne and Maidstone United midfielder, Colin Richmond, who now turns out for fifth-placed Premier Division side Fleet Leisure, who play their home games at Rochester United, has been selected to play in both warm-up matches.
Joe Creasey, who plays for Sevenoaks and are presently topping Division Two East, tops the goalscoring charts in the entire league with 25 goals, but he has to make do with a place on the bench in both games.
