Kris Browning quits K Sports: The board set out objectives for me at the start of pre-season in regards to what they wanted to see in regards to playing attractive football, which everyone would enjoy to see even if we finished third-from-bottom

K SPORTS must begin the search for a new manager after Kris Browning quit the club just nine days before the start of the new season.

Browning guided the Aylesford based club to an eleventh-place finish in their debut Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division campaign last season, having got them promoted as runners-up to Punjab United 12 months earlier.

But despite spending 10 years’ at the club, K Sports issued a 38 word statement on their Twitter account this evening to announce Browning’s resignation.

“Kris Browning resigns as first team manager along with his assistant Graham Martin, due to differences of opinions moving the club forward with new board.

“Kris would like to wish the club all the best for the future.”

In a statement, Browning told www.kentishfootball.co.uk, “After a chat with the new board members at the club, I have decided to tender my resignation due to several differences of interest at the club.

“I wish the club every success for the future and I’ve enjoyed my 10 years at the club massively.”

Browning was about to work with a playing budget for the very first time at the club this season but after a showdown meeting this evening both parties decided to part company.

“After some conversations today with the new board members we have come to the conclusion that it would be best for the club and myself to part company,” added Browning.

“The board set out objectives for me at the start of pre-season in regards to what they wanted to see from the first team in regards to playing attractive football, which everyone would enjoy to see even if we finished third-from-bottom.

“Also, they felt that the coaching wasn’t up to standard for a club at our level.

“I’ve always had a style of play and I’ve had some success with it gaining four promotions but the board are the ones putting their money in and it’s their view.

“It’s football and I’ve been loyal to K Sports and the old APM for 10 years and whatever has gone on I wish the club all the best for the future.

“I like to thank my number two Graham Martin, who has resigned with me, who put hours into the club.

“Football is a drug to us and we will hope to be back involved in some capacity soon!”

The Cobdown based club have not revealed whom will be in charge for Saturday’s pre-season outing against tenants Greenways, or for the start of the new Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division season, which gets under way with a trip to newly-promoted side Erith & Belvedere on Saturday 3 August 2019.
