K's will be a big scalp if we collect three points, says Warrilow

TONBRIDGE ANGELS boss Tommy Warrilow says his side can reach the play-off’s for the second successive season if he keeps everybody fit between now and the end of the season, writes Stephen McCartney.

Mid-table Angels travel to fourth-placed side Kingstonian on Saturday and Warrilow, speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk , would like to join the Surrey giants in the play-off zone.

The K’s, who lost their first four league games, have climbed up the Ryman Premier League table in recent weeks, as new personnel have been drafted in by manager Alan Dowson and the club are now reaping the rewards.

“They’ve has a big clear out over there so they’ve brought a load of new faces.  Alan Dowson has always got his team’s organised,” said Warrilow.

“It will be a difficult game, they all are this year, look at Dartford (drawing bottom side) Bognor Regis last Saturday, you’re not going to get any easy games.

“The most important thing for us is we’ve got a few games now on the spin, winning’s a good habit as they say.

“Hopefully we’ve got a strong side to pick from for Saturday.  We’re trying to stay in the pack so we can go for the play-off’s.  Kingstonian will be a big scalp if we can go over there and get three points.”

Last season, Warrilow’s target was to secure a play-off place, which he delivered, although they were beaten by Carshalton Athletic in a topsy-turvey night at Longmead Stadium.

The west Kent club were rocked by the resignation of their chairman and vice-chairman during the summer, but were able to keep a majority of their more experienced players, with talented youngsters being given the chance to step up.

Warrilow will keep assessing his side’s progress at regular intervals during their remaining 29 league games.

“It’s best to leave it until January, obviously you monitor it, but if we beat Kingstonian on Saturday the next one’s a big game.  They’re all going to be classed as big games as it’s so tight,” said the manager.

“We’ve got to make sure that we’re winning our games and come new year you have a good look at it and you want to be there or there abouts to make a push for the play-off’s.

“I’ve not set any targets this year because it changes every month and when you’ve only got a small squad it only takes a few knocks or suspensions.

“If I can keep them all fit, I’d say yes, getting into the play-off’s would be the target but it’s a big ask especially staying in the cup competitions.”

One player to keep tabs on is prolific striker Bobby Traynor, and Warrilow added, “His record is second to none.  Bobby is a very good goalscorer, he’s been around for a while now so we’ve got to stop the service up to him, stop the crosses going in.”

Central defender, Liam Harwood, is expected to be handed his debut, having arrived from Margate.
