Langton quits Rusthall to coach Dale

Sunday 20th July 2008

RUSTHALL are expected to unveil their new manager on Tuesday morning, following Hugo Langton’s decision to leave, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Vandanel Kent County League top-flight club were shocked to hear that Langton has quit the club to team up with Kent League side Holmesdale.

Langton contacted www.kentishfootball.co.uk on Saturday evening to announce that his fourteen month stay at Jockey Farm has come to an end.

But he took the side for the very last time, going down to a 2-0 defeat at Kent League side Sevenoaks Town yesterday.

He said: “You may as well hear from me but I am no longer the Rusthall manager.

“It’s a long story, but I have resigned and taken up a new coaching role at Holmesdale.

“I have joined Tony Beckingham’s coaching staff as his coach.

“It all happened on Friday but I told the players that I was leaving as I took the game at Sevenoaks.”

Rusthall’s vice-chairman, Robbie Forbes, excepts Langton’s decision to further his career at the Bromley based Kent League club, who play one division higher than the Rustics.

“Following Saturday’s game with Kent League Sevenoaks, it was announce that Rusthall’s first-team manager Hugo Langton would be leaving the club with immediate effect,” said Mr Forbes.

“It is believed that Langton has been offered a coaching position at a respected Kent League club, which was the direction he wished his football career to take.

“All at Rusthall would like to thank him for his time and effort that he has put into the club over the last fourteen months and wish him every success in the future.”

Mr Forbes said that training continues as normal at Jockey Farm on Monday night at 7:30pm and that players old and new are welcome.

Holmesdale welcome Vandanel Kent County League side Metrogas to Oakley Road, Bromley on Tuesday evening, kicking off at 8pm.

The kick off has been put back as the club will be testting their new floodlights during the second half.

Dalers manager Tony Beckingham added: “Just to clarify the situation with regards to Hugo Langton, it was only after he left Rusthall that the offer of a coaching role was made by us.”

Langton, however, will make a quick return to Jockey Farm with the Dalers, as the two sides meet each other in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, 2nd August.
