Lillis unveiled as new Lordswood boss
Thursday 05th November 2009
JASON LILLIS has returned to football management, as he takes over from Kevin Metcalf at struggling Bulmers Cider Kent League side Lordswood, writes Stephen McCartney.
The Medway side are enduring yet another miserable season, as they presently lie at the foot of the table with a record of just two draws from their first eight league games, leaving them one point behind fellow winless side Corinthian.
The former Tunbridge Wells manager, who lives in Tenterden, was shown the door following the club’s monthly meeting last Monday.
A club statement issued on www.lordswoodfc.co.uk said, “It was decided by mutual consent that Kevin Metcalf should stand down as manager.
“The committee and club would like to thank Kevin for his hard work and wish him all the best for the future.”
Former Gillingham and Lordswood player Lillis, who has previously managed Maidstone United and Herne Bay, Martin Telford (who was Metcalf’s number two) and John Guest (senior) will form the new management team at Lordswood with the aim to improve on the club’s position this season.
The trio’s first game in charge will be a trip to sixth placed Greenwich Borough on Saturday.
Steve Firkins’ side have bagged four wins and three draws from ten league games already this season.
