Longhurst brings seven new players to Slade Green

Sunday 16th December 2007

Stand-in Slade Green manager Matt Longhurst has continued to strengthen his squad over the last few days - with seven new faces arriving at The Small Glen club.

Chris Peck (Maidstone United), Lee Craig (Dartford), Phil McBean (Cray Valley), Sam Taylor (Fisher Athletic), Neil Day (ex Erith & Belvedere and Erith Town), Robert Dabner (Tonbridge Angels) and Rikki McDowell (VCD Athletic) have all signed for the Kent League club.

“Lee (Craig) is a former QPR trainee and Wimbledon and West Ham youth team player,” Longhurst revealed to the club website.

“He can play as full-back or in the centre of defence and is the brother of former Millwall and Crystal Palace defender Tony Craig.”

Speaking about Phil McBean, who arrives from Kent County League outfit Cray Valley, Longhurst added: “In the past he has been the target of Dulwich Hamlet and Fisher Athletic.

“Phil is only 18 and plays as a winger comfortable on either side of the pitch and genuine pace.”

Peck, 20, however, arrives from Ryman Premier League side Maidstone United, where he was understudy to Pat Mullin, before recently departing.

Peck has had trials with both Queen’s Park Rangers and Ipswich Town and been with Australian League side Sydney as a trainee for the past three years.
