Long serving Pettit bids farewell to Ramsgate
Monday 19th April 2010
SIMON PETTIT has explained his reasons behind quitting Ramsgate after ten-years in the first-team at the Southwood Stadium club, writes Stephen McCartney.
The 27-year-old has only played for two clubs, Ramsgate (two spells) and Maidstone United, and scored Ramsgate’s only goal in the Ryman Premier League play-off semi-final defeat away to Staines Town in 2008, after recovering from a broken leg sustained earlier that season.
The midfielder, who is a long-throw specialist, explained to www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk, today that he cannot commit the time to the Ryman League Division One South club at present and is looking for a new club to play for.
He said: “Due to work commitments, working away in the Midlands and London most weeks, training and games have been increasingly difficult for me to attend this season.
“Therefore I have made the decision to join another club next season, where it will be possible to train midweek with on a regular basis.
“Thanks to everyone involved with the club for a great 10 years of first-team football and no doubt we’ll cross paths at some point in the future.”
