We're moving in the right direction, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles
LORDSWOOD manager Richard Styles says his players are buzzing ahead of their trip to local rivals’ Rochester United on Saturday.
Styles took over at Lordswood during the close season and had to get a team together from scratch but they have gelled superbly and go into the game in high spirits.
Lordswood are second in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having won three, drawn one and lost one of their league games this season, level on points with surprise league leaders Croydon.
“Although the Rochester United match is a local derby, we are treating it as just another game and focusing on continuing our consistency and momentum,” said Styles.
“There’s three big points at stake. We have started well this season considering how much work we had to do from scratch since my management team and myself got the job as we had no players that were with the club last season.
“The changing room has a good buzz and the lads have a good togetherness about them and it’s got a good feel around the place.
“We’re moving in the right direction. We know our strengths that we need to build on. We also know what areas we need to improve on.
“It’s still early days and we’ll take each game individually as it comes.”
Matt Hume’s Rochester United, meanwhile, sit unbeaten in 11th-place in the table, with a record of one win and three draws.
