Lordswood boss Richard Styles: We go away to Arundel on Saturday and expecting a tough game
LORDSWOOD boss Richard Styles says he wants to enjoy a run in The FA Vase this season.
The Lords travel down to Sussex to play Southern Combination Premier Division strugglers Arundel in the First Qualifying Round tomorrow, a side that have suffered six defeats out of six and are at the foot of the table.
Lordswood make the trip having come away from Sheppey United with a point with a thrilling 3-3 draw.
“Our last game at Sheppey was a great game to be a part off,” said Styles, whose side are in the top ten in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with nine points from six games.
“We drew 3-3 and deserved something from the game but the lads showed a great never say die attitude and drive to keep going and never stopped when we went 3-2 down on 90 minutes so to comeback to 3-3 was a credit to the boys.”
Lordswood go into tomorrow’s FA Vase tie as favourites.
“We go away to Arundel on Saturday and expecting a tough game but going there knowing what we need to do and believe in what we are doing,” said Styles.
“The lads are working extremely hard at the moment towards our goals and progressions and we just keep doing what we’re doing.
“The Vase is a great competition and I had a few very good runs in the competition as a player and want it as a manager, with the boys experiencing that with the club like I did.
“We’ll just take it game-by-game and go from there, just as we are in every competition that we are in.”
