With a young squad we're going to have ups and downs and hopefully we can have an up at Knaphill tomorrow night, says Lordswood boss Neil Hunter

LORDSWOOD manager Neil Hunter insists there is no pressure on his young set of players’ going into tomorrow night’s FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Replay at Knaphill.

The two sides played out a goal-less draw at Martyn Grove on Saturday and Hunter wants his side to finish off the job in Surrey tomorrow night.

Hosts Knaphill are second-from-bottom in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division South table, having lost their only game by three goals to one away to Colliers Wood United, who held Beckenham Town to a goal-less draw in The FA Cup at Eden Park Avenue at the weekend.

Lordswood, meanwhile, are also second-from-bottom in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having lost to both Erith Town (4-1) and Deal Town (3-0).

“There is no pressure on these lads whatsoever.  We know what needs to be done, so let’s hope we carry it out,” said Hunter.

“It’s a FA Cup tie so anything can happen but I know my boys will put a shift in. It will be another tough game at Knaphill tomorrow night.

“Saturday’s game was an even game with chances at both ends so Tuesday night will be no different, I would imagine.

“One thing we will need to do is start a little quicker as they came out of the blocks very quickly but once we got to grips with it we got stronger as the game went on.

“With such a young squad I’m expecting another tough game but one we hold no fear with.

“I’ll have a couple of boys back tomorrow and a couple out so that’s what you expect this time of the season.”

Reflecting on their start to their league campaign, the former Fisher and Punjab United coach said: “As for the first two games we were rather unfortunate to lose at Erith Town, if I’m honest but the Deal game we were beaten by the better side and I had no complaints.

“Again, with a young squad we’re going to have ups and downs and hopefully we can have an up tomorrow night.

“One thing I cannot fault is their work rate and commitment which I know will hold us in good stead.”

Meanwhile, the winners will travel to Isthmian League South Central side Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the Preliminary Round on Saturday 21 August.

The Stanwell-based outfit kick-off their league campaign with a trip to Chalfont St Peter this coming Saturday, 14 August.

Their tenants, Southall, from the Combined Counties League Premier Division North, were knocked out of The FA Cup at the weekend by losing 1-0 to Deal Town, thanks to Connor Coyne's last-gasp winner.
