This is a tough draw away at Littlehampton and any team that knocks Beckenham out are a good side, warns Lordswood boss Neil Hunter
LORDSWOOD manager Neil Hunter says he is expecting a tough FA Vase Second Qualifying Round tie at Littlehampton Town tomorrow.
Littlehampton beat Beckenham Town 2-1 at Eden Park Avenue in the previous round and Hunter wants to avoid a second cup upset.
“This is a tough draw away at Littlehampton and any team that knocks Beckenham out are a good side,” said Hunter.
“We know a bit about them as I’ve had them watched. Listen, it’s a tough away draw in a game that will finish on the day but it’s one we hold no fear with and we will go there with confidence in our own ability.
“We as a club are looking forward to this fixture in west Sussex and hopefully we get a win.”
Lordswood are currently sitting in the bottom four in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with two wins from their opening eight league games.
They beat fellow strugglers Erith & Belvedere 4-3 at home last Saturday but suffered a 2-0 defeat at Deal Town on Tuesday night.
“The last two games were a mixed bag, winning at home against Erith & Belvedere, then having to change the team against a well-organised Deal side in, which officials, once again took centre stage,” added Hunter.
“When you put a new side together in lockdown it’s going to take time and obviously I’m going to have to tinker with things a lot more than you would with a squad that’s been together years, so it is what it is.
“We have a few players out tomorrow but I have brought one or two in and this is what has to be done.”
Littlehampton Town, meanwhile, are a level lower than Lordswood and are currently in second-place in the Southern Combination League First Division table with five wins and a draw from their opening six league outings.
They are a couple of points behind Bexhill United at this early stage of their 30 match league campaign.
