The lads are working extremely hard towards our goals and progressions, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles
LORDSWOOD manager Richard Styles says his players’ are working extremely hard towards their goals and progressions.
The Martyn Grove outfit rose to the top of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division after their 3-1 home win over Hollands & Blair on Tuesday night.
“It was pleasing to get another win in a local derby and home game. The boys efforts were superb, gave everything and we’re fully committed to winning the game,” said Styles, whose side have picked up 16 points from their opening nine league games.
“It was very pleasing to get maximum points in our last two games against Cray Valley and Hollands & Blair.”
Lordswood travel to Billingshurst tomorrow in The FA Vase Second Qualifying Round as favourites as the hosts play in one level below them and go into the game in the bottom three in the Southern Combination First Division with four points from seven games.
“We go away to Billingshurst tomorrow and expecting a tough game but going there knowing what we need to do and have belief in what we are doing,” said Styles, whose side escaped a releation battle last season, finishing six points above the drop zone.
“The lads are working extremely hard towards our goals and progressions and we just keep doing what we’re doing and applying ourselves.
“My thoughts on The FA Vase remain that it is a great competition and I had a few very good runs in the competition as a player and want the boys to be experiencing that with the club, like I did.
“We’ll just take it game by game and go from there, just as we are in every competition we are in.”
