Lordswood begin search for new manager after Simon Halsey quits

LORDSWOOD are making efforts to search for a new manager after Simon Halsey resigned on Sunday.

Halsey, who replaced Jason Lillis at the helm in the summer, decided to quit the club after suffering a 3-0 defeat at league leaders Whyteleafe at the weekend, following a bad run of form.

The club are in eight-place in the Southern Counties East Football League table with 9 wins, 3 draws and 11 defeats and have nine league games remaining.

“Halsey had a mixture of highs and lows during his relatively short time at the club,” said a club statement.

“He endured a torrid start to the season having to build a squad from scratch, before making a number of key signings to bolster the squad which saw good wins against Ashford and a 2-1 victory over current league leaders Whyteleafe in the FA Vase and an eight match unbeaten run in the league.

“However, there were also some disappointing moments with the exit from the Kent Senior Trophy to lower league Fleet Leisure and the FA Vase capitulation at Hanwell Town, whilst the last four games of his tenure saw 20 goals conceded and only two goals scored.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Simon for his efforts during his time at Lordswood FC.

“Lordswood are now making efforts to search for a new manager to get us through to the end of the current season and potentially build for next.”
