Lordswood players can expect gruelling pre-season, warns Guest
The North Dane Way outfit finished rock bottom of the Bulmers Cider Kent League table last season with three wins and nine draws from their 30 match campaign – but Guest and manager Jason Lillis will ensure players will be fighting fit by the start of the new season.
“The first team will return on 26 June and the pre-season will have a military style to it as I spent most of my life in the Army,” warned Guest, when speaking to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
“We have secured the use of the military facilities at Brompton Barracks and the trials are open to anyone.”
Meanwhile, Lordswood are looking to strengthen their club and have announced pre-season trial dates.
Guest said: “We also have trial dates for all ages on the first three Saturday’s in June. We have now got all age groups from eight to fourteen and our under 14 team are in the Kent League.
“We will also have an under sixteen team in the Kent League in season 2011-2012.
“We have changed the name of our reserves to under 21’s, with the odd exception they will be players under 21. That gives us a very good link into the first team.”
Meanwhile, the club have arranged three home pre-season friendlies against Ryman Premier League sides with Horsham (24 July), Tonbridge Angels (27 July) and Folkestone Invicta (31 July) facing Lillis’ side.
