Losing Maidstone United will be financial blow

Maidstone United managers Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume will be taking the opportunity to give those players within the squad who have not had too much game time recently an opportunity to get 90 minutes of football under their belts during tonight’s John Ullmann Kent Senior Cup first round showdown with landlords Sittingbourne at Bourne Park tonight.

Stones supporters can expect to see the likes of Michal Czanner and Kane Rice start, whilst Aaron Lacy, Alex Tiesse, Andy Hart and Nick Hegley will all probably be involve for the majority, if not al of the game.

Walker told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk:  “I owe it to all of those players that are not getting full games at present to be able to get out on the pitch and show us what they can do.”

With the first team travelling to Leatherhead on Saturday, Maidstone United’s reserves are the third ever visitors to Dartford’s Princes Park Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Sittingbourne official Tania Spice, admitted it will be a financial blow to the Bourne Park club when Maidstone United move out.

She told www.sittingbournefc.co.uk  : “Lets put it this way, the purse strings will be even tighter once Maidstone do move to their own ground.

“It’s been hard enough to make ends met with them, not sure what’s going to happen once they do move.”

She added: “Don’t forget too that even though Maidstone supporters have to come to Sittingbourne for their home games, their gates are always bigger than ours.”

On the pitch, Sittingbourne’s eight game unbeaten run came to an end at the weekend with a 2-1 defeat at Cray Wanderers.
