Lovell injury blow for Nuts & Bolts

Monday 18th August 2008

ASHFORD TOWN striker Mark Lovell faces a lengthy time out on the sidelines as the club’s injury curse strikes again, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Nuts & Bolts got their Ryman League Division One South campaign off to a disappointing start, being held to a 1-1 draw by Walton Casuals at The Homelands at the weekend.

And they’ll be without Lovell for their trip to newly promoted side Crowborough Athletic on Tuesday night and for the foreseeable future.

“Mark’s injury looks bad,” revealed Don Crosbie, the club’s co-owner, speaking on the fans’ forum at www.ashfordtownfc.co.uk.

“It appears to be cruciate and that would be terrible for Mark and the team.

“Mark is attending a specialist unit in London tomorrow to ascertain the extent of what appears to be a serious injury.

“I am sure we all wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully the boys will be all out tomorrow evening for Mark.”

The Crows’ first ever game in the Ryman League ended in a 2-1 defeat at Casuals’ neighbours, Walton & Hersham.
