Lydd have same sights as I do, says Hughes
LYDD TOWN have unveiled former Staplehurst & Monarchs boss Dennis Hughes as their new manager, writes Stephen McCartney.
Hughes, who has managed in the Ryman and Southern League as well as Ireland and Spain, takes his first training session tonight, ahead of his first game in charge, at home to AFC Sheppey on Saturday.
“I am delighted to have been asked to do the job,” Hughes told www.kentishfootball.co.uk tonight. “I was persuaded (to become their new manager) by the sheer determination and ambition of the club, they have the same ambition and sights as I do.”
Lydd Town go into the game rooted to the foot of the Vandanel Kent County League Division One East table, having collected just one win from their 11 league games. The club were deducted one point earlier in the season and are 12 points adrift of safety.
And Hughes added, “I realise how difficult the situation is at the moment, but we are building for the future.”
Hughes says new players are invited to attend training sessions.
